We're on our way to develop and increase the fun of Reb Me and Rebtel on Facebook. From a voting this morning some ideas were sorted out to be prioritized. We'll now be dealing with these, and when these are in the open, Facebook will be nothing close to where it is now!
Looking forward to feedback on the current app and also the improvements when they're out
What is GloCALLization, apart from a word-joke?
Globalization, we all know of. The question is, how will it affect you? In what means can you see that globalization is knocking on your door? Is it when the TV start showing programs and films from other cultures, is it from your trip to South America, is it from the accessability on Internet?
Although the web and media has increased its coverage over borders and cultures, these are still only secondary sources to you. For globalization to step into our lives, we need to be in direct contact with other cultures. Going there is inevitable, but then what? How do you keep the world close?
My perception is that you need to retain the friends you have, no matter where, to keep the world close to you. It needs to be as easy and as cheap as calling your friend on the other side of the street as to call someone in Mexico, Canada or Turkey.
Who knows, maybe, in the future, we'll have those beamers they use in Star Trek (you know, "beam me up Scotty") to be able to go for a coffee on the other side of the globe...

Rebtel's spoof:
The Rebtel hippies spent the rainy London-summer running around telling the operators how much we like them. Some liked it, some didn't...
Here's how scared I was before going into Telia to hug them. Notice how I discussed around the subject trying to find out relevant reasons not to go in... :-)
We wanted to make Rebtel more viral and Facebook less wired, so the developers here have started building an application that will connect the offline life to the online Facebook life.
Having cool apps on your FB account can make you start playing Super Mario again, take stupid tests, draw out your where-about and many things more. These are all fun in the moment of being online. You feel like you’re coming a bit closer to your friends simply by clicking on your computer.

I, myself, often crave to go offline seeking contact in the more traditional way, taking a beer or calling somebody on the phone. The fact that many of my friends are too far away for drinking with makes me call them more, now that I can without paying so much. The people I’ve met on FB are also in many cases abroad and therefore I feel like taking these contacts even closer even though distance is in the way.
I hope that many people will try the new app as soon as it’s done, so that we can get in contact with these!
